Located in East Central Alberta, within easy driving distance of Edmonton, Red Deer, and Camrose, the Flagstaff Region is a great choice for golfers looking for a quiet weekend escape close to home.

This three-day itinerary takes you to all four local golf courses, with time built in for great meals, quiet evenings, and a comfortable central camping base near Daysland.

With scenic 9-hole courses in Hardisty, Sedgewick, Forestburg, and Daysland, this tour is a great way to experience small-town hospitality, prairie views, and a full weekend of golf at your own pace.

Day 2: Hardisty & Sedgewick

Morning Round: Hardisty Lakeview Golf Course
Start your first full day of the Flagstaff Golf Tour with 9 holes at Hardisty Lakeview Golf Course. Set on rolling hills overlooking Hardisty Lake, this scenic course offers beautiful views, well-kept fairways, and a peaceful setting to ease into the day. Golfers can expect a mix of open fairways, tree-lined holes, strategically placed bunkers, water hazards, and undulating greens that add just the right amount of challenge.

The course is also known for its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. As you make your way around the course, keep an eye out for local wildlife and take time to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you.

The Leaf

Lunch: The Leaf in Hardisty
After your morning round, head into Hardisty for lunch at The Leaf Sports Pub. Located on 49th Street, The Leaf offers a welcoming pub atmosphere with a mix of family-friendly dining and a modern sports bar feel. It is a great place to refuel between rounds, catch a game, enjoy a casual meal, and relax before heading to your afternoon tee time in Sedgewick.

Afternoon Round: Sedgewick Golf Club
Spend the afternoon at Sedgewick Golf Club, a nine-hole course located along Highway 13 on the north side of the Town of Sedgewick. This 3,163-yard, par 36 course is a great stop for golfers of all levels, with mature trees lining the manicured fairways and bent grass greens that offer a smooth, quick roll.

The course is enjoyable to walk, but still brings plenty of challenge with bunkers, strategically placed water, and subtle breaks on the greens. Accurate iron play will come in handy here. Golfers can also warm up or work on their game at the practice facilities, including a driving range and putting greens.

Sedgewick Golf Course

Evening: Pizza on the Way Back to Camp

After your afternoon round at Sedgewick Golf Club, take the scenic route back to camp with a supper stop at the Strome Hotel. Grab a pizza to enjoy there or take back to Edgerton Day Campground for an easy, no-fuss evening after a full day on the course.

Forestburg Golf Course

Day 3: Forestburg & Daysland

Morning Round: Forestburg Golf Club
Start your final day with 9 holes at Forestburg Golf Club, a welcoming course set in the community of Forestburg. With tree-lined fairways, rolling terrain, and a peaceful rural setting, this course offers an enjoyable round for golfers of all skill levels.

Golfers can expect a mix of approachable play and rewarding challenges, including elevation changes, doglegs, bunkers, water features, and greens that call for thoughtful shot-making. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to enjoy a morning round with friends before continuing on with the final stops of the Flagstaff Golf Tour.

Before heading out, take a little time to enjoy the clubhouse atmosphere or warm up at the practice facilities.

Big Willy’s Burger

Lunch: Big Willy’s in Heisler
After your morning round in Forestburg, make your way to Big Willy’s Bar at the Heisler Hotel for lunch. Located on Main Street in Heisler, this sport-themed pub offers a full restaurant menu with homemade burgers, sauces, soups, pizza, and daily specials.

Known for being “a little out of the way… a lot out of the ordinary,” Big Willy’s is well worth the stop. The building itself adds to the experience, dating back to 1925 and featuring its original brick. During the summer, visitors can also stop at Chilly Willy’s Ice Cream Shack, a walk-up ice cream window serving Foothills Ice Cream by cone, bowl, or ice cream sandwich.

Afternoon Round: Daysland Golf Club
Finish the Flagstaff Golf Tour with 9 holes at Daysland Golf Club, a local “hidden gem” located along Highway 13. This must-play course offers a great mix of challenge and fun, with tree-lined fairways, creeks, ponds, and gently sloping greens.

The course is enjoyable for both skilled and beginner golfers, making it a fitting final stop on the tour. One of its standout features is the picturesque par 3 island hole, which has become a favorite for many golf enthusiasts and adds a memorable finish to your Flagstaff golf getaway.
