About the Program

The Flagstaff County Tourism Ambassador Program is an exciting new initiative by Flagstaff County that was created to promote tourism and community pride by highlighting the region’s top attractions, local businesses, and unique experiences. Through engaging visual storytelling on the Explore Flagstaff Region Instagram page, selected ambassadors will showcase what makes this rural region a must-visit destination in Alberta.

Program Highlights

  • Duration: May to December 2025 (8 months)
  • Ambassadors: 3 local influencers or community members
  • Platform: Instagram @Explore_Flagstaff
  • Budget: $3,400 per ambassador for reimbursed expenses
  • Focus Areas: Outdoor recreation, indoor recreation, food and drink, small businesses, events, history, and hidden gems

What Ambassadors Do

Tourism Ambassadors will help tell the story of Flagstaff County by:

  • Creating monthly photo and video content featuring local destinations and events
  • Attending monthly ambassador meet-ups to collaborate and connect
  • Sharing experiences on their own platforms using branded hashtags
  • Submit content for use on the Explore Flagstaff Region Instagram page
  • Engage with the community and encourage others to explore the region

Who Can Apply

We’re looking for enthusiastic storytellers who:

  • Live in Flagstaff County or have strong community influence in Alberta
  • Are 18+ years of age
  • Have an active and engaged Instagram presence (500+ followers)
  • Are passionate about local tourism, photography, and community connection
  • Can produce high-quality visual content and captions
  • Are eager to promote the Flagstaff Region in a respectful, authentic way

Compensation and Support

Each ambassador will receive up to $425/month to support their work. This includes:

  • Compensation for time spent creating content
  • Reimbursement for tourism-related expenses (e.g., mileage, admission fees, meals at local businesses, equipment rentals)

Ambassadors will also receive support from the Economic Development team and become part of a collaborative creator network.
